Impact of Microsoft 365 legacy TLS cipher suites deprecation and support for affected Ricoh products (multi-function printers, printers, facsimiles, and production printers)

Ricoh has been made aware of Microsoft's decision to update TLS cipher suites supported by Microsoft 365 to enhance encryption standards. This change will affect some Ricoh multi-function printers, printers, facsimiles, and production printers.

This notice explains the functions affected by the deprecation and Ricoh's response to the change.

1. Affected functions

For products not listed in section 3, “Products that support the TLS cipher suites required by Microsoft”, the following functions will no longer be able to send or receive emails via Exchange Online, regardless of support for OAuth2.0 authentication.

Sending email

• Sending email using the scan function
• Sending internet fax
• Sending fax to an email address
• On-demand Email Notification (function that notifies machine status by email)
• Auto Email Notification (function that sends error notification to the designated administrator email address)
• Sending error notification when using Mail to Print

Receiving email

• Receiving internet fax
• On-demand Email Notification (function that notifies machine status by email)
• Mail to Print

2. Ricoh's response to this change

If you are using Exchange Online for any of the functions listed in section1, “Affected functions” on a product not listed under section 3, “Products that support the TLS cipher suites required by Microsoft”, please switch to methods that does not use email sending, or use email services other than Exchange Online.
